Professional Background
Architectural Experience
Ms. Drew-Alton has over 26 years of experience delivering projects for the public sector. She began her career in Houston, Texas in 1978 where she provided planning services for the Houston Independent School District, primarily addressing growth of large Houston high school campuses.
Lisa then worked for herself in Oklahoma City, providing document production support for a variety of medium sized firms on a contractual basis. Eventually she moved to St. Louis, where she practiced for about 20 years for several firms acting as project manager and coordinating the efforts of A/E teams to fulfill contracts for both public and private sector work. Again, she spent much of her career planning for the large public school districts in St. Louis, including the court-ordered capital improvements project for many of the designated inter-city St. Louis Public Schools such as Vashon, Sumner and McKinley High Schools. She has also worked on several federal medium standard postal facilities for the United States Postal Service in central Missouri, including the new main post offices in Union and Washington, Missouri.
Her last position before becoming self-employed again, was as the head of office, and senior project manager for a Midwest regional E/A firm in Springfield, Missouri. Ms. Drew-Alton has been an adjunct professor at Hammons School of Architecture-Drury University where she taught 3rd and 4th architectural design studio on the subject of sustainability.
Her passion for school work comes from her architect father, Glen Drew, who practiced in Missouri for over 30 years, and owned offices in Poplar Bluff and Jefferson City. She recalls traveling with her dad as a child to various rural school district projects in southern and central Missouri, watching him conduct field observations and meeting with school board members. Like her father, she derives a lot of gratification designing and supervising the construction of publicly funded educational facilities.
